Troubleshooting

The most common problems and mistakes will be addressed in this section.

 

Why won't my controller start?

  • Make sure that :
    • An instance is not already running (adress already bound to port)
    • Nothing is running on port 8080 (http app) nor 8081 (grid endpoint)
    • A mongoDB instance is running on the default port number (27010)
    • You have sufficient memory to start the JVM
    • You're starting the controller from its bin/ folder
    • You've checked your logs for other typical errors (log/ folder)
    • You haven't edited the classpath or otherwise made any mistake while editing the start script
    • Java is installed on the system or that you've set the JDK variable inside the start script

Why won't my agent start?

  • Make sure that :
    • You have sufficient memory to start the agent
    • You are starting the agent from its bin/ folder
    • You haven't edited the classpath or otherwise made any mistake while editing the start script.
    • You've checked your logs for other typical errors (log/ folder)
    • You haven't edited the classpath or otherwise made any mistake while editing the start script
    • Java is installed on the system or that you've set the JDK variable inside the start script

The web app won't load !

  • Make sure that :
    • The controller started correctly and is not logging any errors
    • Port 8080 is open, reachable and not already bound (change it in the step.properties file of the conf/ folder if needed)
    • Your browser or client machine is not experiencing connectivity issues

I'm stuck on the login screen !

  • If you're migrating from an earlier version :
    • Make sure that you followed the protocol as described in the section Quick Migration
  • Otherwise, just use admin // init as the default login info, then change your password from inside the app

User or password doesn't work !
